How do you link to non-english pages? I tried s:XX:article and XX:s:article where XX represents the two-letter country-code but it didn't work.--Adoniscik. Could you add another field for the language, and default it to English? (talk) 19:41, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Both ((ws|''[[s:de:Die araner mundart|Die araner mundart]]'' at German Wikisource)) and ((ws|''[[:de:s:Die araner mundart|Die araner mundart]]'' at German Wikisource)) correctly yield " Die araner mundart at German Wikisource." with a link to the German Wikisource. You can put either the s: or the XX: first, but be sure to use the double brackets to create the link; that isn't done automatically with this template. ((edit protected)) Shrink the icon from 15px to 12px. This has been done for ((1911)) and others and seems to allow it to fit in-line much more gracefully. Catholic Encyclopedia is not the best example to use because it has its own dedicated template called ((cite CE1913)) and it is much simpler to use:

((cite CE1913|wstitle=The Knights Templars))

returns

Oppose the change. If you know the pipe trick this should pose no problem. The question we should be asking, rather, is why [[s:...]] is required in the first place. In case I wasn't clear, I don't see why what is now rendered by

If the intention of the previous construction is to allow things other than a simple link to a Wikisource page (as done in John of Gaunt#External links), then it's almost as if this template shouldn't be used or at best it should be done by e.g. ((ws)) with no parameters showing just the icon.
