Transition

[edit]

During the next few days there will need to be a new section between Constitution and Executive, for the head of state = Sovereignty Council (Sudan). The Executive power will be the Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and the Cabinet - if the transition continues according to the official schedule in the 2019_Sudanese_transition_to_democracy#Draft_Constitutional_Declaration. Transition crisis of October 2021

[edit]

@Sundostund: The statements made by al-Burhan are so far from making sense that talking about a 'head of state' and 'deputy head of state' is crystalballing. If you take his statements literally, then the Sovereignty Council is still the collective head-of-state, but the civilians are mostly purged from it. I haven't checked these in detail, but that would mean that the head of state is still (if we believe al-Burhan) a set of many people (like in Switzerland). As for the state, a state is not just an army controlling a tv station and some buildings, it has to control the people and functioning of the ministries and civil servants and convince or force them to follow rules (or orders) to run the country. I put '(disputed)' with a link to the coup page, but if you have a better idea, please go ahead and edit or propose it for discussion. Much of the international community says that the Hamdok Cabinet is still the transitional government of Sudan, so I restored him, but it's also clear that al-Burhan and Hemetti dispute that.
