PS2 "remake"

[edit]

The article states that the Japan-only PS2 version of the game was a remake, but it wasn't - it's most definitely an enhanced port. Unfortunately, the current citation says it's a remake. Does anyone know of any other sources we can use? I can only find one, [1] which refers to it as a port.

Capitalization of the D in Dreams

[edit]

This article claims that the title is stylized as "NiGHTS into Dreams...". this is accurate to how SEGA currently stylizes it. However i believe it was originally intended to have lower case d in dreams. this can be confirmed by looking at the original font, Ondine. this is backed up by this Famitsu article and this SEGA blog post. should this be mentioned in the article? No, it's of no importance. Sergecross73 msg me 23:39, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NiGHTS topping Japanese chart

[edit]

The source used for NiGHTS selling out in US also mentions it topped the charts in Japan too actually:

"In July, "NiGHTS" launched in Japan where it broke Saturn sales records for the country. The game is currently topping the videogame charts. "Typically a game's success in Japan is an indicator of how well it'll do in the U.S.," Hoff said. "NiGHTS" sold out in three days in Japan when it was released and it came close to that in the U.S.; needless to say, this is a great way to kick off our strong fall lineup."

I think it is worth mentioning in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.187.151 (talk) 22:57, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it would be worth mentioning, but we need a better source. A Google.site isn't really what Wikipedia considers a reliable source. (And even if it was, it wasn't loading for me - I couldn't see any sales figures personally.) Sergecross73 msg me 23:54, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not from a google site, its an archieve from Sega's old website: https://web.archive.org/web/19961220011116/http://www.sega.com/news/releases/nightsahit.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.187.151 (talk) 00:11, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Citing the Sega website itself would be fine, though, per WP:PRIMARY, we'd have to stick straight to the basic facts, not all the PR/Marketing lingo they use. Sergecross73 msg me 01:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but I dont think even PR could factually lie about "The game is currently topping the videogame charts." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.187.151 (talk) 01:09, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But what charts, exactly? That's a vague statement. Red Phoenix talk 02:40, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, it's me again. With a better source. https://retrocdn.net/images/3/32/CVG_UK_178.pdf <- Page 9, mentions NiGHTS topped the all formats chart in Japan, despite Nintendo 64 hype. Volume 178 released in September 1996. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.192.187.151 (talk) 12:07, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
