Story arc entries

[edit]

There currently is a discussion regarding whether to keep Locke & Key as a single entry for the entire metaseries or whether to allow separate pages for each story arc/limited series (i.e. Locke & Key: Welcome To Lovecraft, similar to what is done with Stephen King's The Dark Tower). To add to the discussion, please go here. — Hornoir (talk) 18:21, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I—as the original and sole author—have placed a Speedy Deletion template on Locke & Key: Welcome To Lovecraft. After reading the handful of comments from those that chimed in, it is my belief that the separate story arc entries does not conform with the spirit of Wikipedia. I'll work in the future to make the main article more thorough and encompassing. Thanks to all for their shared opinions and patience with this "dispute". — Hornoir (talk) 23:21, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Story arcs format

[edit]

We try and avoid issue-by-issue breakdowns - it is clunky and tends to lead to plot bloat. Putting them in tables is not a good idea either as the summary of a story isn't tabular data, see WP:WTUT (it also adds to the clunkiness. It is also written in an in-universe style, see WP:WAF.

It would be better to re-write it, treating it as a work of fiction, and presenting it in more of a prose form.

I also removed the links to Heavy Ink - WP:EL says we can't link to specific stores (there are hundreds of online comic stores, there is no reason we should link to that one) and it isn't actually adding anything as the ultimate source for the story is the comic. Clearly analyses/critical reactions need other (secondary) sources but sourcing it to a store only adds an extra layer that is unneeded.

Hope that helps. (Emperor (talk) 19:44, 10 February 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Metastases

[edit]

What the hell is a "comic book metastases"? It sounds like cancer. Xotn (talk) 16:55, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's because it is a disease. Someone made that change and no one noticed. I think it was supposed to say "metaseries", which is actually correct based on the description of the wikipedia article for the term. I used the broad, all-encompassing "series" in exchange. hornoir (talk) 23:02, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TV Pilot

[edit]

There appears to be a pilot that has been filmed based on the subject of this article. Does this belong anywhere within the article? --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 18:31, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Dodge?

[edit]

It is not clear from the text that Dodge is actually a creature who appears as a girl. 89.216.19.52 (talk) 08:52, 25 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No... Dodge is the nickname of one of the characters because of how he fences (he dodges well). That character does later become possessed. The appearing as a girl is related to one of the keys, which has the power to change someone's gender -- all the characters play with that key from time to time.--Snowrail (talk) 19:09, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

text style

[edit]

"Four words: "Giants hitting each other." Don't miss the most smash-tastic fight issue of the year!" this sounds to me like copied out of an advertising. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.151.72.84 (talk) 01:54, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional text

[edit]

This article is almost entirely promotional text cut and pasted in, which is a violation of guidelines. It needs to be removed and replaced with original, encyclopedic summaries. I also don't think that it's necessary to have an entry for every single issue - every other series is limited to a summary for each trade paperback, which I feel is what should be done here as well. Issue summaries are uninformative and promo-y

[edit]

Shouldn't the issue summaries actually describe the plot rather than breathlessly reporting things like, "It ends here: the story of the Locke children and their desperate, tragic battle..."? It's literally the copy-pasted promo text from a site selling the comics (in that case, I haven't checked all of the entries).

I haven't read the comics, nor know of online info to cite, so I can't fix it myself; but the promo texts are near-pointless.
