Fall 2023 filming?

I can find no source saying that the film would start im Fall 2023. Linkin Prankster (talk) 13:55, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Error on my part, I had conflated the production start of another film I had made edits to around the same time and confused its projected filming start for this one’s. Rusted AutoParts 06:30, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
It's filming now. Mike Allen 01:52, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Betelgeuse or Beetlejuice

In the article for the first film, there was a lot of changing back and forth between the spellings, often with the excuse that one source or movie poster did it one way or another source or poster did it the other way. And a third possibility, Beetle Juice, was also sometimes used because one poster spelled it that way. It was finally decided by consensus to use "Beetlejuice" for consistency, and because that is how it is more widely spelled, although that was not a strong consensus. I propose that we continue that consensus now so we don't create confusion, frequent article changes, and even edit wars. It would be OK with me if one sentence or phrase in the article uses both [Beetlejuice (Betelgeuse)] just so readers know about the origin of the name. I know IMDb is not generally a reliable source, but for cast and character lists, they are accepted on Wikipedia, and they use Beetlejuice. It may very well turn out that the filmmakers use only one spelling (likely Beetlejuice) for this sequel. I think consistency is most important. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 20:07, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

Don’t know if it matters, but I found the spelling funny when it didn’t match the name of the film. If you check the credits of the first film, though (See ~2min in), it is actually spelled Betelgeuse. Yet the credits for the cartoon spell it the same as the title: Beetlejuice. -2pou (talk) 08:04, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
@2pou: There's some inconsistency for the first film, even in sources very close to the film. That's why there was so much changing in the article for the original film. But I wanted to establish some basis for use of one or the other so we can avoid that in this article. It makes more sense to me to use "Beetlejuice", which is more widely used. Sundayclose (talk) 13:19, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
That is the confusing element to the first film, as in the actual film, his character's name is officially spelled as "Betelgeuse". However, they also explain that to pronounce his name, to say it as "Beetle Juice" or "Beetlejuice". In regards to the spelling of his actual name, not just appearing in the credits but also in the film itself, it is officially spelled "Betelgeuse". Scenes of the official spelling of his name can be found throughout the film, including his gravestone, and his in-universe advertisements and commercials for his services as a bio-exorcist.Cardei012597 (talk) 20:45, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Yes that's certainly true that both spellings are used in the first film. But I think Wikipedia should have some consistency in the spelling it uses. Otherwise we are back to square one from what happened in the article for the first film, frequent back and forth changes. I'd like to see a consensus for one or the other. That's not to minimize the other spelling, and the two spellings can be acknowledged. But beyond initially identifying that Betelguese and Beetlejuice are seen in the film and related material (such as the posters), the article needs to consistently use only one. To some extent we are flying blind until B2 is released. We probably can't make a clear decision at this point until we actually see what's done in that film. Beetlejuice is the spelling. Any other spelling is only because in the film he is not allowed to tell anyone his real name. He can't say it so it only makes sense he can't write it either. 2001:569:BF60:CD00:7D0A:CD18:75E8:8221 (talk) 00:06, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
I am leaning towards "Betelgeuse", as the character himself only spelled it that way. He used "Beetle Juice" only as a way to properly pronounce his name. However, I am open to using "Beetlejuice" for the character, as it is more wildly known to the average viewer, due to the film's marketing. AnthonyN090 (talk) 15:27, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Talk:Beetlejuice regarding the spelling of the titular character. The thread is Character name spelling. Thank you. GorillaWarfare (she/her • talk) 22:15, 1 February 2024 (UTC)
