Sakmarsky District (Russian: Сакмарский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[5] district (raion), one of the thirty-five in Orenburg Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,061 square kilometers (796 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Sakmara.[2] Population: 29,179 (2010 Census);[4] 28,569 (2002 Census);[7] 26,384 (1989 Soviet census).[8] The population of Sakmara accounts for 17.2% of the total district's population.[4]
