Hannah Mary Kagaza Silcock (born 18 September 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Women's Super League club Liverpool and the England under-23 team. Silcock previously played for Blackburn Rovers and represented England at under-19 level.

Club career

[edit]

Silcock made her senior debut for Liverpool in their 2021–22 winning season. She featured 5 times in Women's Championship, League Cup, and FA Cup matches.[2][1]

On October 6, 2022, Silcock signed her first professional contract with Liverpool aged 18, having joined the club aged 8 and playing for the Regional Talent Club's under-16s.[3][4][5] On 7 December, she featured in the starting lineup for the 2022–23 League Cup match against Manchester United, and was praised by manager Matt Beard, despite the team losing 2–0.[6]

In March 2023, silcock was featured in Goal.com's "NXGN Nine" as one of the "wonderkids" due for senior England careers and the "most exciting prospects" from the under-19s. She was described as "incredibly highly-rated" and a "classy centre-back who is good on the ball".[7]

On 25 August 2023, Silcock joined Women's Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the 2023–24 season.[8][9] On 4 March she conceded an own goal against Durham in a 2–2 after crossing the ball into her own net,[10] followed by scoring against Sheffield United on 28 April.[11]

International career

[edit]

In October 2022, Silcock received her first call-up to the England under-19 squad for 2023 U19 Championship qualification.[4] She made her youth international debut in the starting eleven against Slovakia on October 5,[12] followed by appearing as a substitute against Slovenia.[13] In in April 2023, Silcock featured as the number 6 centre-back for second round qualification matches,[14][15] with England missing out on qualifying for the final tournament after being defeated 1–0 by Spain.[16]

In November 2023, Silcock was included in the under-23 squad.[17] On 26 February 2024 she scored her first youth international goal against the Netherlands after her debut start in the side.[18]
