Summary

Description

A Sikorsky HH-60 Markings seem to identify: Unknown USAF Search and Rescue Squadron. USAF is clearly printed on the tail.

Copyright © 2007 David Monniaux (Update: 22 November 2015... The tail markings 88-26109 designate this aircraft belonging to the 56th Rescue Squadron (56 RQS), 48th Fighter Wing (48FW), RAF Lakenheath. The aircraft later crashed on a night training mission to rescue a downed F-16 pilot on 07th January 2014. The cause of the crash was due to a flight of geese impacting the aircraft while flying at low altitude along the coastline 2 miles North West of Blakeney, UK. The airframe was deemed a write-off and all four (4) crew members were fatally wounded. (Updated by Rupert Imhoff).
