Description

Shot with a 5D Mark II and 200mm f/2L IS

This is one of my test shots with the 200mm f/2L. I've read about the Image Stabilization on this lens being amazing, so I had to witness it for myself.

I ended up with these settings: F/2, 1/15th / sec, ISO1600, handheld

At 1/15th / sec, so much light came in that I had to under expose this image in post by -1.15!

I know many people who will preach about Image Stabilization being useless while shooting moving objects, but hey, small dogs don't exactly stay still either and this image came out fine. The truth is, there is a rhythm to everything. For example, if you're shooting someone that is speaking and the lighting conditions require longer shutter speeds, click the shutter at the very end of each sentence. Or when people are dancing, shoot on beat - it may appear that everything is moving, but there is always a moment in time when everything is perfectly still.

The trick to stopping motion is using your ears
