Summary

Description

Storefronts in the Eastern Market district of Detroit on a rainy fall afternoon. Rudolf Hirt Jr., a Swiss immigrant, began the business in 1893. The famed R. Hirt Jr. store in Eastern Market will close by the end of 2011 after more than 120 years in business, but a member of the family that has run the store for generations said he will reopen it under a new name almost immediately. 11-24-2011 Own work
