Dosanjh Kalan is a village in Phillaur tehsil of Jalandhar District of Punjab State, India.
It is situated on Phagwara-Mukandpur road. The village is 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from Phagwara, 19 kilometres (12 mi) from Banga, 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Jalandhar, and 123 kilometres (76 mi) from the state capital at Chandigarh. The village is administrated by a Sarpanch who is the elected representative of the village
Etymology and History
[edit]Dosanjh is an inherited clan name of Sikh (Agriculturist) named after village "Dosanjh" Settled by Sangha Jatts, [1][2]Although Dosanjh Kalan was established by the member of Dosanjh Chiefs couple of centuries ago. [3]
Education
[edit]The village has a girls only upper primary with secondary/higher secondary Punjabi medium school which was founded in 1911. The school provide a mid-day meal as per the Indian Midday Meal Scheme. The village also has some private co-ed schools such as:

- Guru Gobind Singh Model School (primary with upper primary)

[edit]The nearest train station is situated 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) away in Goraya and Jalandhar City Railway Station is 32 km away from the village.

The village is home to the Sangha jat Sikh people and approximately 10% of the population from the Tonk Kashatria clan has lived there since 1800. The village was formerly known as Dosanjh Bhai Ka. There were ruins of an old light tower made of small bricks in the east side of the village in the forest preserve. This light house served as a beacon for the administration of old days. It was said that the lighthouse from Jagraon was coordinated from this place. This forest preserve had so much vegetation and so many huge old trees. Most trees were 'Van' trees. There were many huge 'peapl' and 'bohr' trees in the 1950s. There were so much population of a variety of mammals and birds including peacocks in this sanctuary. All these trees were cut down by the village government in the 1970-1980's.
