Blake Demond Hinson (born December 26, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) on a two-way contract with the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Ole Miss Rebels and the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Early life and high school career
[edit]Hinson grew up in Deltona, Florida and initially attended Deltona High School. He transferred to Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas before the start of his senior season.[2]
College career
[edit]Hinson began his college career at Ole Miss. He started 31 games and averaged 8.3 points and 2.9 rebounds as a freshman.[3] Hinson averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists during his sophomore season.[4] After the season, he entered the NCAA transfer portal.[5]
Hinson transferred to Iowa State.[6] He missed his first season with the Cyclones due to an unspecified medical condition.[7] Hinson left the program shortly before the start of the 2021–2022 season.[8]
Hinson transferred a second time to Pittsburgh.[9] He was named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in his first season with the team after averaging 15.3 points and 6.0 rebounds.[10] Hinson was named first-team All-ACC in his final season at Pitt.[11] He averaged 18.5 points per game and set a school record with 110 made three-pointers.[12]
Professional career
[edit]After going unselected in the 2024 NBA draft, Hinson signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 5, 2024.[13]
