Abdul Rashid Arian was Afghan politician from People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan.[1]

Arian was born in November 1941 in Kandahar.[1] He worked as a journalist in Kandahar. He joined People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan and was the secretary of Kandahar provincial committee. In 1973, he became alternate member of the central committee of the party, and in 1977 a full member.[1]

In 1978, Arian was chosen as a member of the Revolutionary Council of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.[1] In 1978[1] he was appointed ambassador to Pakistan until 1980.[2] 1980 he was appointed by Babrak Karmal as Deputy Prime Minister and minister of justice[3] until 1981.[1]

Arian was one of the vice chairmen of the Revolutionary Council[2] from June 1981 to 1988[1] under Babrak Karmal and Mohammad Najibullah. He was elected to House of Elders in 1988.[1] In 1990 he was expelled from the government.[1]
