Kenji Kawai (jap. 川井 憲次, Kawai Kenji; * 23. April 1957 in Shinagawa, Tokio, Japan) ist ein japanischer Komponist, der Musik für Kinofilme, Computerspiele, Anime- und Fernsehproduktionen komponiert. Unter anderem steuerte er die Musik zu Mamoru Oshiis Filmen Ghost in the Shell und Avalon – Spiel um dein Leben sowie Hideo Nakatas Ringu und Ip Man bei.

Am 9. Januar 2020 wurde ein Asteroid nach ihm benannt: (117582) Kenjikawai.
