Der Bereich Grafisches Gewerbe umfasst heute die Bereiche Bildverarbeitung, Buchdruck, Design, Desktop-Publishing (DTP), Druckereimaschinen, Druckerzeugnisse, Druckgrafik, Druckindustrie, Flachdruck, Foliendruck, Fotosatz, Fotosatzanlagen, Gebrauchsgrafik, Hochdruck, Offsetdruck, Reproduktion, Reprotechnik, Siebdruck, Tiefdruck, Werbegrafik und Zeitungsdruck.
Das Museum der Arbeit in Hamburg widmet dem Grafischen Gewerbe unter der Überschrift „Grafisches Gewerbe: Mechanisierungen und Ende des Buchdrucks“ eine eigene Abteilung, die sich auf den Buchdruck, dessen Mechanisierung und sein Ende konzentriert.
