Dramodydd o Sais oedd John Ford (1586 – tua 1639) a flodeuai yn oes theatr Iago a Siarl.

Ganed i deulu bonheddig yn Nyfnaint a fe'i bedyddiwyd ar 17 Ebrill 1586 yn Ilsington. Cafodd ei dderbyn i'r Deml Ganol ym 1602, ac mae'n debyg iddo aros yno am gyfnod hir, ac eithrio ei waharddiad dros dro o 1606 i 1608. Cyn iddo ymwneud â'r theatr, ysgrifennodd sawl gwaith gan gynnwys galargerdd er cof am Charles Blount, Iarll 1af Dyfnaint, a phamffled rhyddiaith ym 1606.[1]

Cydweithiodd gydag eraill ar o leiaf pum drama rhwng 1620 a 1626, gan ddechrau gyda The Laws of Candy (1620) gyda Philip Massinger. Cyd-ysgrifennodd The Witch of Edmonton (1621) gyda William Rowley a Thomas Dekker; The Spanish Gypsy (1623) gyda Thomas Middleton, Rowley a Dekker; The Fair Maid of the Inn (1626) gyda John Fletcher; a The Sun's Darling (1624) gyda Dekker. Credir iddo hefyd gyd-ysgrifennu tair drama goll, ac o bosib The Welsh Ambassador (1623), gyda Dekker, ac mae'n bosib iddo gyfrannu at ddramâu eraill yng nghanon Francis Beaumont a John Fletcher hefyd.

Wedi 1627, mae'n debyg i Ford weithio ar ben ei hunan ar gyfer theatrau preifat, ac wyth drama ganddo sydd yn goroesi: The Queen (1627), The Lover's Melancholy (1628), The Broken Heart (1629), 'Tis Pity She's a Whore (1631), Love's Sacrifice (1632), Perkin Warbeck (1633), The Fancies Chaste and Noble (1636), a The Lady's Trial (1639). Maent yn ymwneud yn bennaf â dewrder a dyfalbarhad, a themâu cyffredin yw'r pruddglwyf, artaith, llosgach, a rhithdyb. Nid oes tystiolaeth o'i fywyd nac ei waith wedi 1639, a chredir iddo farw tua'r cyfnod hwn.
