Asana, neu osgo'r corff, o fewn ymarferion ioga yw Hanumanasana (Sansgrit: हनुमानासन) neu'r Mwnci.[1] Gelwir y math hwn o osgo yn asana eistedd, neu asana anghymesur mewn ioga modern ac ymarfer corff. Dyma'r fersiwn ioga o'r hyn a elwir mewn gymnasteg yn hollt flaen (front splits).

Geirdarddiad

[golygu | golygu cod]

Daw'r enw o'r geiriau Sansgrit Hanuman (endid dwyfol mewn Hindŵaeth sy'n ymdebygu, o ran pryd a gwedd, i fwnci) ac asana (osgo person),[2] ac mae'n coffau'r naid anferth a wnaeth Hanuman i gyrraedd ynysoedd Lanca o dir mawr India.[3]

Nid yw'r ystum yn cael ei ddisgrifio yn y testunau hatha yoga canoloesol. Mae'n ymddangos yn yr 20fed ganrif mewn traddodiadau amrywiol o ioga modern , megis yn Camau Cyntaf i Ioga Uwch Swami Yogesvarananda ym 1970,[4] yn Ioga ashtanga vinyasa gan Pattabhi Jois,[4] yn yr Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha, gan Swami Satyananda Saraswati (2003)[5] ac yn Light on Yoga (1966) gan BKS Iyengar.[6]
