Cyfansoddwr opera Eidalaidd oedd Giacomo Antonio Domenico Michele Secondo Maria Puccini (22 Rhagfyr 185829 Tachwedd 1924). Cafodd ei eni yn Lucca, yr Eidal, yn fab Michele Puccini a'i wraig Albina Magi. Cafodd ei addysg yn ysgol San Michele ac ysgol yr eglwys gadeiriol Lucca; Michele Puccini oedd maestro di cappella yr eglwys gadeiriol.[1] Bu farw yn Brwsel yn 1924.[2]
