Al llarg de tot el mes de gener està actiu el concurs per incorporar a la Viquipèdia les biografies de les 100 dones més influents de l’any 2023 segons el criteri de la BBC. La cadena britànica va iniciar el 2013 la sèrie multiformat 100 women, que recull les que considera que han estat les dones més influents l’any anterior. Des del 2018 la comunitat viquipedista catalana ha assumit el repte i ha estat capaç de completar les biografies d’aquestes personalitats destacades pertanyents a tots els àmbits.

Pel que fa a la nova llista publicada per la BBC, a 1 de gener només disset de les 100 dones seleccionades ja tenien biografia a la Viquipèdia, entre elles la futbolista del FC Barcelona Aitana Bonmatí o la històrica líder feminista nord-americana Gloria Steinem. Per tant, això suposa haver d’incorporar 83 noves biografies, de les quals 40 ja s’han redactat durant la primera setmana. Val a dir que l’any passat la catalana ja va ser la primera wikipedia a completar el repte Les primeres que es van afegir són les de l’enginyera sueca Astrid Linder, l’activista feminista russa Daria Serenko, la física veneçolana Anamaría Font i l’escriptora brasilera Andreza Delgado.

El concurs per a completar les biografies està obert a tota la comunitat viquipedista fins al dia 31 de gener. Aquell dia els articles han d’estar enllestits, amb les referències, l’ortografia i l’estil propi de la Viquipèdia, i sense cap plantilla d’avís pendent de resoldre. Els tres primers classificats -sempre i quan hagin creat un mínim de cinc articles- rebran una capsa regal d’experiències com a premi, gentilesa d’Amical Wikimedia. El concurs “Les 100 dones de la BBC” l’impulsen membres d’Amical Wikimedia i està emmarcat en la iniciativa global Viquidones per revertir el biaix de gènere enciclopèdic en català.  

Amical Wikimedia és una organització independent sense ànim de lucre amb un centenar de socis que promou la Viquipèdia, els seus projectes germans, el coneixement lliure en català i la cultura catalana a dins i fora de la xarxa a través del voluntariat. El seu objectiu és “que la suma de tot el coneixement humà estigui disponible lliurement en català, i que tot el coneixement sobre la cultura catalana estigui disponible per a tothom en qualsevol llengua”.

The Catalan Wikipedia aims to add the bios of the 100 most influential women of 2023 in just one month

The challenge to incorporate into the Catalan Wikipedia (`Viquipèdia’) the biographies of the 100 most influential women of the year 2023 according to the criteria of the BBC is active through this month of January. In 2013, the British network launched the multiformat series “100 women”, which highlights those considered to have been the most influential women the previous year. Since 2018 the Viquipèdia community has taken up the challenge and has been able to complete the biographies of these outstanding personalities belonging to all areas.

As for the new list published by the BBC, on January the 1^st only seventeen of the 100 women selected already had a biography on Viquipèdia, among them FC Barcelona footballer Aitana Bonmatí or the historic American feminist leader Gloria Steinem. Therefore, this meant having to incorporate 83 new biographies, of which 40 have already been written during the first week. Last year the Catalan one was already the first wikipedia to complete the challenge. The first ones to have been added are those of the Swedish engineer Astrid Linder, the Russian feminist activist Daria Serenko, the Venezuelan physicist Anamaría Font and the Brazilian writer Andreza Delgado.

The challenge takes the form of a contest open to the entire Wikipedian community until January 31. That day the articles must be ready, with the references, spelling and style of Wikipedia, and without any pending warning templates. The first three classified people - provided they have created a minimum of five articles - will receive a gift box of experiences as a prize, courtesy of Amical Wikimedia. The contest “The 100 Women of the BBC” is promoted by members of Amical Wikimedia and is part of the global initiative ‘Viquidones’ (wikiwomen) to reverse encyclopedic gender bias in Catalan.

Amical Wikimedia is an independent non-profit organization with a hundred members that promotes Wikipedia, its sister projects, free knowledge in Catalan and Catalan culture inside and outside the network through volunteering. Its objective is “that the sum of all human knowledge is freely available in Catalan, and that all knowledge about Catalan culture is available to everyone in any language”.
