Wesley Studi ( Cherokee ᏪᏌ ᏍᏚᏗ  ; rođen 17. decembra 1947.) američki je glumac i filmski producent iz nacije Cherokeeja, dobitnik kritičkih priznanja i nagrada, posebno za portretiranje Indijanaca u filmu.[1] [2] Nastupio je u filmovima nagrađenim Oskarom, poput Ples s vukovima (1990) i Posljednji Mohikanac (1992), te u filmovima nominiranim za Oskara, Geronimo: Američka legenda (1993) i Novi svijet (2005) ). Poznat je i po portretiranju Sagata u Street Fighteru (1994). Ostali filmovi u kojima se pojavio su Neprijatelji, Heat, Mystery Men, Avatar, A Million Ways to Die na Zapadu, i televizijske serije Penny Dreadful. 2019. godine dobio je počasnu nagradu Akademije,[3] postavši prvi indijanski domorodac i druga sjevernoamerička autohtona osoba koju je Akademija počastila (prva je Buffy Sainte-Marie ).[a] Godine 2020. New York Times ga je rangirao na 19. mjesto na listi 25 najvećih glumaca 21. vijeka. [5]

  1. ^ With this honorary Oscar, Wes Studi became the second Indigenous person from North America to receive an award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Buffy Sainte-Marie, a First Nations/Native American living in Canada was the first Indigenous person to win an Oscar, in 1983, when she won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 55th Academy Awards.[4]
