Sapotaceae je poveća porodica cvjetnica u redu, Ericales, razred Magnoliopsida, divizija Tracheophyta.[1]
Rasprostranjena je pretežno po tropskim područjima južne Azije, Afrike, jugoistoka Sjeverne Amerike, Srednje i Južne Amerike.
Prema Katalogu života, porodica ima 1289 vrsta[2], od kojih mnoge imaju jestive i korisne plodove. Među njima su i Synsepalum dulcificum i Argania spinosa, za arganovo ulje, koje se tradicijski proizzvodi u Maroku, za njegu kose i kože.
