U grčkoj mitologiji, Krij (Κρεῖος[1] ili Κριός) je bio jedan od Titana, djece Urana i Geje.[2] Kao i drugim Titanima, Kriju nedostaje mnogo karakterizacije, ne posjeduje jedinstvenu domenu ili sopstvenu mitologiju; umjesto toga, on je očigledno imao čisto genealošku funkciju u mitologiji, da obezbijedi roditeljstvo za druge važnije figure.

Porodica

Prema Hesiodu, sa Euribijom, kćerkom Geje ("Zemlje") i Pontom ("More"), rodio je Astreja, Palanta i Perzeja.[3] Spajanje Astrejasa Ejom, Zorom, donelo je Eosfora, Hespera, Astreju, druge zvijezde i vjetrove.

Mitologija

Dodan da popuni spisak Titana kako bi formirao podudaranje sa Dvanaest Olimpijaca, Krij je neumitno bio uključen u desetogodišnji rat između olimpijskih bogova i Titana, Titanomahije, iako bez ikakve posebne uloge. Kada je rat izgubljen, Krij je zajedno sa ostalima prognan na niži nivo Hada zvan Tartar.

Kao najmanje individualizovan među Titanima,[4] on je zbačen u Titanomahiji. M. L. West je sugerisao kako je Hesiod popunio Titane iz jezgre grupe – dodajući tri figure iz arhaične tradicije Delfi i to Keja i Febe, čije je ime Apolon preuzeo sa proročištem, i Temide.[7] Među mogućim daljim interpolacijama među Titanima bio je Krij, čija je vrijednost za Hesioda bila isključivo kao otac Persa i dedo Hekate, za koje je Hesiod, prema Westu, bio "entuzijastičan evanđelista".
