থর
নর্স পুরাণে থর (প্রাচীন নর্স ভাষা: Þórr) হলেন একজন হাতুড়ি-ধারী দেবতা। তিনি বজ্রবিদ্যুৎ, ঝড়, ওক গাছ, শারীরিক শক্তি, মানবজাতির সুরক্ষা এবং প্রথাগত পবিত্রকরণ অনুষ্ঠান, আরোগ্য ও উর্বরতার দেবতা। বৃহত্তর জার্মানিক পুরাণ ও প্যাগানিজমে থরের অনুরূপ দেবতার নাম প্রাচীন ইংরেজিতে Þunor এবং হাই ওল্ড জার্মান ভাষায় Donar (রুনিক লিপিতে þonar)। শব্দটির উৎস সাধারণ জার্মানিক *Þunraz শব্দটি, যার অর্থ "ঝড়"।
জার্মানিক জাতির রোমান ঔপনিবেশিক যুগ থেকে অভিবেশন পর্ব পর্যন্ত নথিবদ্ধ ইতিহাসের সর্বত্র থরের নাম বেশ গুরুত্বের সঙ্গেই উল্লিখিত হয়েছে। ভাইকিং যুগেও থর খুব জনপ্রিয় দেবতা ছিলেন। সেই সময় স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ায় খ্রিস্টধর্ম প্রচারের কাজ চলছিল। সেই অবস্থাতেও থরের প্রতীক হাতুড়ি "মিয়োলনির" মানুষ গর্বের সঙ্গে ধারণ করত এবং থরের নর্স প্যাগান ব্যক্তিগত নামটির বহুল ব্যবহার তাঁর জনপ্রিয়তার পরিচয় বহন করছে। আধুনিক যুগেও সারা জার্মানিক অঞ্চলের লোককথায় থরের উল্লেখ পাওয়া যায়। বিভিন্ন স্থাননামে থরের উল্লেখ আছে। "থার্সডে" (বৃহস্পতিবার) কথাটি "থর'স ডে" বা "থরের দিন" কথাটি থেকে এসেছে। প্যাগান যুগ থেকে প্রচলিত থরের নামাঙ্কিত নামগুলির প্রচলন এখনও আছে।
আইসল্যান্ডে নথিভুক্ত নর্স পুরাণে, যেখানে স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ার প্রচলিত পুরাণকথা থেকে উপাদান প্রচুর পরিমাণে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়েছে, সেখানে থর সম্পর্কে অনেক গল্প ও তথ্য আছে। এই সূত্র থেকে থরের চোদ্দোটি নাম পাওয়া যায়। জানা যায়, তিনি সোনালি চুলবিশিষ্ট দেবী সিফের স্বামী এবং জটুন ও জার্নসাজার প্রেমিক। তাঁর চোখদুটিকে ভয়ানক বলা হয়েছে। তাঁর মাথার চুল ও দাড়ির রং লাল বলে উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে।[১] থরের ঔরসে সিফের গর্ভে তিনি এক দেবী (সম্ভবত ভালকিরি) ব্রুনরের জন্ম দেন। জার্নসাজার গর্ভে জন্ম নেন থরের সন্তান মাগনি। তিনি মদিরও পিতা, তবে মদির মায়ের নাম জানা যায় না। দেবতা উল্লর তাঁর সৎপিতা। একই সূত্র থেকে জানা যায় তিনি ওডিন ও পৃথিবী দেবী জোরগিনের সন্তান। ওডিনের সূত্রে থরের অনেকগুলি ভাই আছে। থরের দুই পরিচারক জালফি ও রোস্কভা। তিনি দুই ছাগলে টানা গাড়িতে ভ্রমণ করেন। তাঁর তিনটি বাসস্থান। থর হাতে ধরে থাকেন মিয়োলনির নামে একটি পাহাড়-ভাঙা হাতুড়ি। তিনি বেল্ট ও লোহার হাতমোজা পরে থাকেন যা দ্বারা তিনি তার হাতুড়ি কে যেখানেই নিক্ষেপ করেন সেটা তার কাছে ফিরে আসে। তাঁর গ্রিনারভোল নামে এক কর্মচারী আছে। থর জরমুনগান্ডার নামে এক বিশাল সাপের সাথে যুদ্ধ করেন
