Літахолевая кіслата (3α-гідраксі-5β-халан-24-авая кіслата) — адна з жоўцевых кіслот. Бактэрыі ў тоўстай кішцы вырабляюць літахолевую кіслату з хенадэзоксіхолевай кіслаты.
Папярэднія даследаванні in vitro паказваюць, што літахолевая кіслата выбарча забівае клеткі нейрабластомы , шкадуючы нармальныя нейронавыя клеткі, і цытатаксічна для многіх іншых тыпаў злаякасных клетак у фізіялагічна значных канцэнтрацыях.[1]
Харчовыя валокны могуць звязвацца з літахолевай кіслатой і спрыяць яе выводзінам з калам.[2] Такім чынам, валокны могуць бараніць ад раку тоўстай кішкі.
Літахолевая кіслата (а таксама яе ацэтат і прапіянат) могуць актываваць рэцэптар вітаміна D, не павялічваючы ўзровень кальцыя так моцна, як сам вітамін D.[3]
LCA з высокай афіннасцю (20 мкм) звязваецца з чалавечым мембранным ферментам NAPE-PLD, узмацняючы зборку дымераў і забяспечваючы каталіз. NAPE-PLD каталізуе вызваленне анандаміда і іншых N-ацылэтаналамінаў (NAE) з мембраннага папярэдніка N-ацылфасфатыдылэтаналаміну (NAPE). NAPE-PLD палягчае крыжаваныя перашкоды паміж сігналамі жоўцевых кіслот і сігналамі амідаў ліпідаў.[4] [5] [6]
Даследаванне дрожджаў таксама паказала, што літахолевая кіслата аказвае амаладжальнае дзеянне.[7][8] Пазнейшае даследаванне паказала, што жоўцевыя кіслоты назапашваюцца ва ўнутранай і вонкавай мітахандрыяльных мембранах, змяняючы ліпідны склад мітахондрый, стымулюючы або інгібіруючы розныя ферменты.[9]
