أنَّ السجلات الأكاشية (بالإنجليزية: Akashic records) هي عبارة عن مكتبة ضخمة هائلة توثق كافة الأحداث في حياة الشخص بل للكون كله. تعرف تلك السجلات أيضا باسم كتاب الحياة ويفترض أن الأثير هو من قام بانشائها،وأن لفظ أكاشا لفظة سنسكريتية معناها السماء أو الأثير.

أنَّ كلمة شامان أصلها (صامان) وهي كلمة من لغة التونغوس، والكلمة مشتقة من (صا) أي المعرفة، وكلمة صامان تعني (الذي يعرف). وهناك من يعود بالكلمة إلى جذر يعني (الحركة والقفز والرقص). وحسب قاموس ليتري (le Littre) (الطبعة الكاملة 1961) فإن كلمة شامان مأخوذة من الكلمة السنسكريتية صرمنصاص (Sramanas)، وتعني المتعبد الصوفي، وهو اسم يطلق على الكاهن البوذي لدى القبائل التي تحتل شمال آسيا.
