التُبَّتُ، هي منطقة ودولة سابقة في آسيا الوسطى وموطن الشعب التبتي. يُقال لها «سقف العالم»؛ وذلك لارتفاعها 4,900 مترًا. التبتيون يشيرون إلى أنَّ المنطقة الواسعة التي شكلت التبت التاريخية لقرون، هي المكونة من مقاطعات: أمدو، خام وأو-تسانج. وفي 7 أكتوبر عام 1950، بعد انتصار الجيش الصيني على الجيش التبتي في معركة شامدو، ضمت التبت إلى الإدارة الصينية. عندما تتحدث الحكومة الصينية (والجهات الحكومية الرسمية للدول الأخرى) عن التبت، فإنهم يشيرون إلى منطقة تتمتع بالحكم الذاتي تسمى منطقة التبت ذاتية الحكم. وهي تشكل مقاطعة أوتسانج السابقة وغرب خام، والمناطق التبتية التقليدية الأخرى تم دمجها في الحدود الحالية لمقاطعة قنخهاي، غانسو، يونان وسيشوان.
