L'apatito ye un mineral con formula quimica Ca5(PO4)3(F,Cl,OH), por o que puet considerar-se un grupo de minerals con series isomorfas adintro d'os fostatos: Hidroxilapatito, Fluoapatito y Clorapatito. L'apatito presenta una dureza que define a posición 5 en a escala de Mohs.

L'apatito ye un mineral accesorio en as rocas graniticas, presenta a suya mayor abundancia en as rocas fosfatatas y se fa servir como fertilizant

O Hidroxilapatito ye present os vertebratos en a part mineral d'os uesos y en o esmalt d'os dients. Ye present en pocos atros filums d'animals como os braquiopodos.

Por a suya presencia como mineral accesorio en cualques rocas se puet considerar que ye abundant a ran microscopico, y efectivament se documenta como mineral accesorio en os porfidos cuarcifers d'a Sierra d'Albarracín a man de Noguera d'Albarracín. Cristals verdes d'habito prismatico en trobamos en l'Aneto chunto con turmalina. Tamién bi ha apatito accesorio en as ofitas u doleritas d'Aulet.

En Santa Cruz de Nogueras bi ha apatito de color negro en nodulos de roca fostata que bi ha en as calsineras d'a redolada chunto a menas de plomo.
