Thabazimbi (berg van yster) is 'n dorp in die Limpopoprovinsie, Suid-Afrika. Die dorp het 'n bevolking van 28 847 in 2011 gehad.[2]

Geskiedenis

Die dorp het sy ontstaan te danke aan die buitengewone ryk ystererts wat JH Williams in 1919 by Vliegpoort ontdek het. Die erts is deur die regering gekoop vir die pasgestigte Yskor (1928) wat in 1931 met sy bedrywighede begin het. 'n Takspoorlyn is vanaf Northam gebou. 'n Dorp (vir die werknemers van Yskor) is op die plaas Kwaggashoek uitgelê en in 1953 geproklameer.

Myn en Distrik

Die myn lewer jaarliks sowat 2 miljoen ton erts wat per spoor na Yskor se werke vervoer word. Beesboerdey is die belangrikste landbouaktiwiteit in die distrik (8 000 km²). Daar is ook ander beduidende neerslae van chroom en ystererts in die omgewing bewys.[3]
