Sybokhaar is 'n dierevesel wat van angorabokke geskeer word.

Geskiedenis

Die invoer van hierdie diere is grootliks te danke aan die ondernemingsgees van die firma, Mosenthal Brothers van Port Elizabeth, wat tydens die jaar 1860 daarin geslaag het om aanteelvee vanuit Turkye in te voer. Aanvanklik het hulle dan ook 'n monopolie gehad. Later is aanvullende stamboekdiere uit Klein-Asië na die Kaap gebring met die hulp van Cecil John Rhodes.

Die bedryf was aan baie wisselinge blootgestel en is hoofsaaklik beperk tot die Karoo en Oos-Kaap. Op 'n stadium in 1985 was daar in die Kaapprovinsies alleen 3 000 000 angorabokke, hoewel daar vandag slegs 'n breukdeel nog voorkom.
