Mantra

In Tibet word Boeddhistiese mantras dikwels as 'n vorm van meditasie in rotse gekerf

'n Mantra (Devanāgarī मन्त्र) is 'n heilige uitlating of teks (klank, lettergreep, woord of vers) in Hindoeïsme, Djainisme en Boeddhisme wat gesien word as beskikkend oor mistieke en geestelike krag.[1][2] Mantra's word gedreunsing, hardop opgesê, of saggies gebid of net gedink, dikwels op ritme van die asemhaling.[3][4] Mantraśāstra, die gebruik van mantra's, neem 'n soortgelyke (alhoewel nie identiese) plek in as gebed in die Weste.
