Liber

In die Romeinse mitologie was Liber ("die vrye een"), ook bekend as Liber Pater ("die vrye vader"), ’n god van wyn en wynbou, vrugbaarheid en vryheid. Hy was ’n beskermgod van antieke Rome se plebejers en deel van hul Aventynse Triade (Ceres, Liber en Libera).

Liber se fees, die Liberalia (op 17 Maart), is verbind met vye spraak en die regte wat mense kry met hul mondigwording. Sy kultus en funksies is al hoe meer verbind met die verromeinsde vorme van die Griekse Dionisos/Bacchus, wie se mitologie hy gedeel het.[1]
