Burgerskap

Burgerskap beskryf die verhouding tussen 'n persoon en sy of haar land. 'n Persoon is gewoonlik 'n burger van die land waarin hy of sy gebore is. Burgers beskik gewoonlik oor sekere regte, soos politieke deelname, maar het ook verpligtinge, soos om die landswette te gehoorsaam en belastings te betaal.

Burgerskap kan gewoonlik op die volgende maniere bekom word:

  • Deur aansoek daarvoor te doen;
  • Deur te trou met 'n burger van daardie land;
  • Werk/bly vir langer as 'n voorgeskrewe periode in die betrokke land;
  • Deur in 'n land gebore te word.
