Asma Fawaz al-Assad (née Akhras; gebore op 11 Augustus 1975) is die Eerste dame van Sirië. Sy is gebore in Londen, maar haar ouers is Siriërs. Sy is getroud met die Siriese president, Basjar al-Assad.[1][2]

Assad het in 1996 gegradueer aan King's College London, met 'n BA-graad in rekenaarwetenskap en Franse letterkunde. Sy was 'n beleggingsbankier, en sou 'n aanvang neem met haar studies vir 'n MBA aan Harvard-universiteit, toe sy in Desember 2000 getroud is met Bashar al-Assad. Na haar troue het sy haar pos as beleggingsbankier bedank en na Sirië verhuis, waar haar drie kinders gebore is. As Eerste dame het sy 'n belangrike rol gespeel in die implementering van staatsprogramme wat toegespits is op maatskaplike en ekonomiese ontwikkeling as deel van 'n hervormingsinisiatief, wat opgeskort is weens die uitbreek van die Siriese burgeroorlog.[3]

Sy word saam met haar man beskou as een van die belangrikste ekonomiese dryfvere in Sirië, en beheer aansienlike dele van Siriese sakesektore soos die bankwese, telekommunikasie, die eiendomsmark, en die maritieme industrie.[4]
